5-Star Review of The Roommate by Rosie Danan

This was just a book of absolute swoony delight. I loved it from the first page. Clara and Josh were 🔥 from the first meeting. I just absolutely loved every single page of this. His swaggering confidence and her timid shyness just hit all of the buttons.

I found myself completely connecting with Clara. I could see myself having the same type of reactions every time she got embarrassed/uncomfortable. I, too, am an awkward person so this just resonated with me.

I love how sex positive this book is and how Clara grows to be more comfortable in her skin. And Josh Darling certainly helps that along.

One of my favorite parts is that they didn’t use the ex-girlfriend as a villain. I really loved that they made her a part of this and showed her actively caring about both Clara and Josh. It would have been too easy to cast her as manipulative/conniving as I’ve seen done in the past, so this was great.

Overall, I just really loved this book. 5 stars and will be recommending it to every person I know!

What Comes After by Blair Leigh Available Now!

This was such a beautiful debut by Blair Leigh! I loved everything about this book. The writing was spectacular. I loved Jack and Eliza’s relationship from the start when she meets him right as he’s been left at the altar-she saw the altercation between him and his would-be bride. Their chemistry is off the charts as soon as they meet and doesn’t let up during the entire book.

I loved how Eliza’s emotions are SO real. I was literally feeling every emotion she did. I love the representation of grief and anxiety. Anxiety is something I’ve recently started dealing with, so reading about it was nice.

While I absolutely loved Jack and Eliza and their relationship, I feel like Nova, Eliza’s daughter was a show stealer. I loved everything about her character. Children in romance novels are tricky but Blair did a fantastic job writing her. I also absolutely loved reading about the friendship between Eliza and Simone. Female friendships in books are one of my favorite parts to read and this one was fabulous!

ARC Review for A Duke, the Lady, and a Baby by Vanessa Riley

I received and ARC from Netgalley in exchange for a fair review. This book starts off fast! The first chapter you are in the mind of the heroine, Patience and the panic she is feeling. I love that it jumps right in. There are point of view changes but it did not change my enjoyment of the story. The chapters that focus on Patience are in first person while the rest are in third person. I actually liked that in some chapters you get an overall view of what’s going on and that in others you get what Patience is feeling. Since most of the story revolves around Patience, I liked getting her thoughts most of the time. While the steam is very low, I could still feel the attraction and affection between Patience and Busick. 4/5 stars.

ARC Review of A Dark and Stormy Knight by Kerrigan Byrne

I received an ARC of Kerrigan Byrne’s latest book in her Victorian Rebels series, A Dark and Stormy Knight. Carlton Morley has been an intriguing character since the beginning and I am SO glad that he finally got his own book. He’s dedicated his adult life to the law but everything is upended when Prudence Goode enters his life. Their chemistry is fire from the first time they meet and it never lets up. Kerrigan’s magic with words will have you laughing out loud and then crying. We also get to see some of our favorite characters from earlier in the series.

While I believe you could read this as a stand-alone, I don’t recommend it. Start at the beginning of the series with The Highwayman.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves Kerrigan’s writing or anyone who is intrigued by the following:

-Marriage of Convenience

-Historical Batman-esque character

Release Date: June 2

5-Star review for Beach Read by Emily Henry

Wow! I didn’t expect this book to hit as hard as it did, partially because of the illustrated cover. Don’t get me wrong, I love illustrated covers for light-hearted Rom-coms. While this book had several LOL moments, there were a lot of topics that were heavier than I thought there would be.

I went in kind of skeptical because of the “dare” to get a literary fiction writer to write a romance. I thought this would be a way to tear down the genre while making this book seem superior to all other romances. Don’t worry, that doesn’t happen.

There are some heavy topics touched on like January finding out her parents’ relationship was not the perfect relationship like she thought it was and that she struggles with believing in HEAs now. This book does a good job in dealing with those.

The chemistry between the 2 characters is fire right from the start. He’s the grump who lives next door and she’s the bright-eyed “fairy princess” who usually looks at everything positively. The banter is great, the make outs and sex are terrific, the whole story was terrific.

I know I’m just blabbering at this point, so I’ll just say again that I absolutely LOVED it!

Image description: Yellow background with the title in bold white letters across the top. On the right hand side a lady in a red one piece bathing suit and over-sized hat is laying on her stomach on a blue flowered towel with an open book and pen beside her. On the left hand side is a guy wearing a black shirt, white shorts, blue baseball hat sitting cross-legged with an open book in his lap on a red striped towel. The Author’s name is in white at the bottom.

Review for Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren

I was a little skeptical about starting this one. I love Christina Lauren’s work but Second Chance and Friends-to-Lovers are usually two of my least favorite tropes. Put together, I thought that it really wouldn’t work for me but OMG was I wrong! I loved this book SO hard. Told in alternating timelines from when the main characters were kids and present day, you get to watch them grow. I fell in love with them as they grew up. There was one moment that made me say WTF but everything else just absolutely worked perfect for me. It was beautifully written, pulled on the heart strings, and made me fall in love with all the characters! I always enjoy reading a good book, but it’s even better when it’s one you think may not work for you but then it absolutely blows you out of the water.

Introduction

Hi! I’ve been wanting to start a blog for a couple years. One of the main reasons for starting the blog is for accountability. Starting this will hopefully help push me into writing more book reviews.

A little about me: I’m 30 years old. I’ve been heavily reading -mostly romance- for about 12 years. I’m lucky enough to be married to my best friend. I’ve got three kids: 15 YO daughter, 11 YO daughter, 4 YO son. They most definitely keep me on my toes.

What you’ll find here: Along with reviewing books that I’ve read, I’ll also try to compile lists of my favorite reads. I’ll even try to connect with authors for interviews, giveaways, etc.
